Communion Setup

This ministry is ideally suited to a team of two individuals who arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on Sunday morning to set up Communion tables, including tablecloths and decorations/candles, as well as prepare the bread baskets and fill the cup trays with grape juice. The current week's setup team is not responsible for tear-down at the end of the service; rather, the setup team for the following week packs up the Communion supplies for the current week. Accordingly, you would be responsible for packing up the Communion supplies the week before you are scheduled for setup.

Current need: As of 10/15/2008 we are fully staffed.

Hospitality Setup

This ministry involves setting up the outdoor refreshment tables on Sunday mornings. It includes setting up the tables with tablecloths and decorations and making the coffee. By arriving between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., a single person can easily do this. The volunteer scheduled for this post is not responsible for bringing the snack food—this is handled separately.

Current need: As of 10/15/2008 we need four people who would be willing to rotate set-up once every four weeks.

Chair Setup

Chair setup begins between 6:45 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. every Sunday morning. We need people who are comfortable being responsible for the chair setup process from start to finish on their assigned Sunday. There will be extra hands to assist, but we are looking to build a trained team of people who can lead this ministry on their assigned Sunday.

Current need: As of 10/15/2008 we need two couples (or four individuals) who will be in charge of measuring and laying out the schematic for chair set-up. The rotation will be one Sunday per month.

Decor Setup

Decor setup begins around 7:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings. This team is ideally suited to a team of three people who set up the entrance area of the Rio Norte multi-purpose room (MPR). This includes setting up the resource table and missions table and placing black-out cloths, lamps and decorations as appropriate.

Current need: As of 10/15/2008 we need one person trained in decor setup and three trained in tear-down.

Refreshments

Providing refreshments on Sunday morning helps facilitate fellowship before, during and after services. Helping with Sunday morning refreshments involves committing to bring food once every five or six weeks (depending on how many volunteers we have). We ask for a good-sized portion of a morning snack-type food. You are paired with two other volunteers, so you are not responsible for feeding the entire church! It is important to arrive with your snack about 20 minutes before the assigned service. Schedules are made for four-month increments.

Current need: As of 10/15/2008 we are fully staffed.

Children’s Ministry Setup/Tear-down

The setup team arrives between 6:45 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. These individuals set up the classroom and nursery areas each Sunday. After the service, this area requires tear-down as well. We are looking to recruit two leaders: one for setup, the other for tear-down. Teams will be trained to ensure a high level of efficiency. The ideal rotation is two Sundays per month.

Current need: As of 10/15/2008 we need two people trained in set-up and 6 people trained in tear-down.

Ushers

Ushers provide a welcoming spirit to everyone attending services at Copperhill Church. They work behind the scenes to reduce any distractions so that others can worship. Their scope of ministry includes greeting people, handing out bulletins, directing visitors to Children’s Ministry and nurseries (if needed), helping people find seats, switching lights on/off during the service, tracking attendance during their assigned service, and distributing Communion on the fourth Sunday of the month. Ushers serve in teams of four for each service, and they arrive 20 minutes before their assigned service starts.

Current need: As of 10/15/2008 we are fully staffed.

Offering Counters

The offering is counted after the second service at Rio Norte every Sunday morning. Two men count together for accuracy and accountability. The counted offering is then handed off to a staff member for transport back to the office for the Bookkeeper to record and deposit on Monday. Each volunteer is scheduled to count approximately once in every six weeks.

Current need: As of 10/15/2008 we are fully staffed.

Technology Production Team

The Technology Production team manages various audio/visual elements of the Sunday morning worship services, ensuring the smooth operation of technology. Each Sunday there are two teams: setup and tear-down. Setup personnel arrive between 6:45 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. The setup team remains to handle production (see responsibilities below) throughout the first service. The tear-down team arrives during the 30 minutes between services, taking over for the setup team. The tear-down team handles production for the second service and tears down and stores all equipment at the conclusion of the second service. The team leader provides a monthly schedule, and volunteers can alternate between setup and tear-down teams based on preference and need. The ideal team member will have some prior experience working with technology, as well as the ability to grasp new technical concepts and skills.

Responsibilities include the following:

Current need: As of 10/15/2008 we need to train three new people.
